Trip Essentials + FREE Packing List Printable

First Class Boutique Blog || Travel hacks for all. Free travel printable included. @pearlsnplanes

Travel season is here and I am so excited! In October we are planning a mini weekend outside of Washington D.C. My goal this year is to see the leaves after they change color. We live in Florida, and I had never experienced ‘fall’ until last year with Kyle.

I have collected a list of my travel necessities that I currently can’t go anywhere without. The items that I cannot travel without. The list is a small purse size list guaranteed to make your travels easier. The best way to be sure you never are without an item is to keep a packing list.

P.S. I created a basic fall packing list for your upcoming travel plans. It’s FREE to print out. You can find it at the bottom of this blog.

Noise Cancelling Headphones

Whenever I travel I like to bring a cheap pair of headphones to watch the in-flight entertainment. Usually the airline we fly hands them out for free for or a small price depending on where you are seated.

Alcohol-Free Hand Sanitizer

When finding the right-hand sanitizer I tend to lean more toward an organic brand, or one that is alcohol-free.

Travel size deodorant

I like to refresh throughout my travel day. Having a travel size deodorant is something I never leave without even when we are not traveling.

‘Down there’ wipes

I have a refresh routine that I do in the bathroom after the flight. I also shower the day we get in, but usually, we explore the area or grab a bite to eat before I have the opportunity to shower. Out of all of the feminine wipes, these bad boys are my go-to.

Hydrating lip balm

My lips dry out every time I fly. If you like something that has a hint of color and shines as I do, I highly recommend this item. This lip balm by Smith’s Rosebud is the real deal.

A Page Turning Book

A good book makes the travel time pass by. When I travel I like to read and take breaks in between my reading. I can’t read for long periods on planes because I begin to feel a little woozy from looking down. I am currently reading a book written by J.K. Rowlings. Check it out here

Basic Hair Accessories

I usually wear my hair down everyday even when I fly. Every once in a those unexpected long travel days sneak up on you. I am always prepared with a stash of hair ties and bobby pins in my purse. The stash is perfect for when ‘i just can’t’ anymore.

Eating healthy while traveling is hard work! It is a challenge finding the time to prepare the meal while figuring out what you can and can not bring. Finding the easiest travel food hacks have not been a walk in the park. In fact, we are still working on perfecting the art of meal prepping. As we learn I want to share with you the hacks that are GAMECHANGERS for us!

When it comes to space we do not have much to work with. Packing for a 4 or 5 day trip means you have to get creative. After trying many reusable container options I found these gems on Amazon.

Vremi Silicone Food Storage Containers with BPA Free Airtight Plastic Lids – set of 4

These food storage holders are collapsible. This feature allows the container to provide more space in a lunch box and easy storage after use. Yes, they are microwave safe!

The other container I love is this camping bowl. It is perfect for all kinds of travel. It collapses providing you with that kind of room we all need when packing lots of food. Kyle uses this bowl for his oatmeal and soup he packs on his trip.

Ecoart Silicone Expandable Collapsible Bowl for Travel and Hiking- Green

Common foods you can find in Kyle’s lunch box:

  • Kind bars
  • Oranges, apples, grapes (hardy fruit)
  • Oatmeal
  • Peanut butter crackers
  • Tuna or chicken salad
  • Honey wheat bread
  • Chocolate or something sweet (he deserves it!)
  • Granola
  • Meal prepped chicken and rice

Now that you have your food and containers how on earth can you keep it from going bad?! We are currently trying out two solutions. The first is this freezer foam it acts as dry ice and lasts up to 48 hours until needing to be frozen again.

Polar Tech RB15 RE-Freez-R-Brix Foam Refrigerant Pack – Case of 6

The second coolant we have been trying out is an old school ice pack. Most of the hotels have ice machines and he refills the ice packs once before bed and once more before he catches the van to the airport.

BEACH DAY + JORD WATCH COLLAB

I recently added a JORD watch to my accessory collection and I am loving it. This navy blue watch is perfect for any minimalist stye. I am usually a earth tone girl and this navy blue is the perfect pop of color that my wardrobe needed. I love having a timepiece that stands out from the rest.

DATE NIGHT

Having an early dinner and watching the sunset is a simple date night tradition by boyfriend and I do every week. We love wearing beach clothes and feeling the sand in between our toes while we watch the sun go down. This time I took my Jord watch along for the evening and it proved to be the perfect evening beach accessory. The watch itself is a versatile style the watch is made to be dressed down or up.

The blue and gold reminds me of a sunset on the beach

JORD values sustainability, efficiency and experiential living. Every watch is design to model a modern lifestyle. They curate their watches for those who crave adventure. I encourage all of my traveler friends to check them out!

How To Travel With Only A Carry On

Traveling as a girl can be tough. We need so many more ‘things’ than a guy needs for a trip. When packing you may feel as though you must pack everything. Do not do this. Not only will you be able to hop off the plane and begin your vacation, instead of waiting for the baggage claim. You will also have a little peace of mind: before, during and after the trip.  I am going to give you a few tips to help lessen your baggage when you travel. Boys thank me later.

  • MAKE A LIST-

The more prepared you are for the packing the better it will be when it comes time to fit it all into your carry on. Creating a list will help you figure out what you will be wearing during your trip. Planning will prevent anything major from being left behind as well.

  • KEEP SHOES TO A MINIMUM-

I try to strategically plan to wear only 2-3 pairs of shoes off and on throughout the trip. One of those pairs will already be on my feet during travel.

  • PACKING CUBES-

This invention has saved me so much room. You can purchase them anywhere that sells luggage, travel items. Simply roll your clothes into the cube and zip it up and you suddenly have a lot more room than you did before. Here is a link from Amazon. They are super cost-efficient!

  • BRING NON-WRINKLING CLOTHES-

Chances are while traveling you will not have time to de-wrinkle your clothes. Be sure to pack clothes that can fold and remain folded during the travel so that your look is always crisp and fresh.

  • PACK ENOUGH UNDERGARMENTS-

enough said. One time a friend didn’t bring enough and it was a horror story…

  • DRY SHAMPOO-

I love you dry shampoo. If your trip is just a weekend journey you can get away with skipping a few shampoo washes by using dry shampoo. I always shower the night before the trip and it lasts me the entire weekend I am gone. Be sure to bring body wash to wash the rest of your body though.

  • KEEP HAIR/MAKE UP TO A SMALL AMOUNT-

You’re on vacation you should be focused on the memory and not all of your makeup. I love makeup don’t get me wrong, but the less you pack the less you have to worry about and the more time you’ll have to explore.

    • BRING A LARGE TOTE-

This will help with your packing. I always bring a large purse to carry my phone charger, smaller purse, an extra pair of sandals (just in case) and whatever I might not be able to fit inside my carry on.

  • MIX & MATCH-

The more flexible you are with your outfit choices the less you will have to fit inside the carry-on. ALSO, the less laundry you have to do when you return home. Try bringing pieces you can mix and match with during the trip. This trick is guaranteed to save you a lot of room.

Wishing you safe travels!
      With love, M
