What to do in Paris || Travel Hacks
I love the jet-setter lifestyle!

Last weekend Kyle and I were itching to go somewhere. School is starting to get stressful  (so I was ready to get away for a few days to relax) and we love to take the time he gets off to go do something memorable…he made it a surprise.

Well…a surprise up until the day before we left because obviously, I needed to know what to pack. (I am also super persistent)

To begin- Paris was a dream come true.

Landing early morning on Friday we made the spur of the moment decision to rent a car and threw our bags into the car and headed to the Eiffel Tower.

As expected we were a little jet-lagged and full of excitement.

The FOOD was a dream

The first night we walk to this local hangout spot for dinner. We were unable to read the menu so we told the server what we were in the mood for. Let me tell you the server for sure pleased our hunger.

Kyle and I enjoy finding a local hole in the wall everywhere we go. For breakfast we ate at a local favorite bakery named “Coquelicot” we both shared a traditional French breakfast with great coffee and lots, and lots of bread.

Unreal destinations:

Paris is a place with so many places to be and lots to see! We visited Napoleon’s tomb which was beautiful the inside of the church was astonishing. We went to the Louvre Museum where we saw the Mona Lisa. My personal favorite was the Eiffel Tower- as a child, I have always dreamed of the day I got to visit. Finally being able to see it in person made it almost unreal. We walked by the Arc De Triumphe many times, but we never got near it mainly because we couldn’t figure out how to get to it without being run over by a driver.

Tips:
  • Pack light Kyle and I always make sure that we travel only by carry on. When arriving in Paris be prepared to have to carry your luggage to your vacation stay. Too much to carry would have been a bummer.
  • Before you depart make sure to read up on your French history- something I know Kyle and I wished we would have done.
  • Be mindful that you are no longer in your home country. 🙂
  • The temperature is now dropping in Europe pack warm!!
  • BRING UNIVERSAL WALL ADAPTERS FOR THE ELECTRICAL OUTLETS – we forgot about this and had to charge our phones in the car we rented…oops!!

Overall, Paris was a dream. It was so much fun I feel like it was not real. Paris is a perfect weekend trip we were able to do in three days. I wish I was sipping tea and eating macarons now.

BEACH DAY + JORD WATCH COLLAB

I recently added a JORD watch to my accessory collection and I am loving it. This navy blue watch is perfect for any minimalist stye. I am usually a earth tone girl and this navy blue is the perfect pop of color that my wardrobe needed. I love having a timepiece that stands out from the rest.

DATE NIGHT

Having an early dinner and watching the sunset is a simple date night tradition by boyfriend and I do every week. We love wearing beach clothes and feeling the sand in between our toes while we watch the sun go down. This time I took my Jord watch along for the evening and it proved to be the perfect evening beach accessory. The watch itself is a versatile style the watch is made to be dressed down or up.

The blue and gold reminds me of a sunset on the beach

JORD values sustainability, efficiency and experiential living. Every watch is design to model a modern lifestyle. They curate their watches for those who crave adventure. I encourage all of my traveler friends to check them out!

How To Travel With Only A Carry On

Traveling as a girl can be tough. We need so many more ‘things’ than a guy needs for a trip. When packing you may feel as though you must pack everything. Do not do this. Not only will you be able to hop off the plane and begin your vacation, instead of waiting for the baggage claim. You will also have a little peace of mind: before, during and after the trip.  I am going to give you a few tips to help lessen your baggage when you travel. Boys thank me later.

  • MAKE A LIST-

The more prepared you are for the packing the better it will be when it comes time to fit it all into your carry on. Creating a list will help you figure out what you will be wearing during your trip. Planning will prevent anything major from being left behind as well.

  • KEEP SHOES TO A MINIMUM-

I try to strategically plan to wear only 2-3 pairs of shoes off and on throughout the trip. One of those pairs will already be on my feet during travel.

  • PACKING CUBES-

This invention has saved me so much room. You can purchase them anywhere that sells luggage, travel items. Simply roll your clothes into the cube and zip it up and you suddenly have a lot more room than you did before. Here is a link from Amazon. They are super cost-efficient!

  • BRING NON-WRINKLING CLOTHES-

Chances are while traveling you will not have time to de-wrinkle your clothes. Be sure to pack clothes that can fold and remain folded during the travel so that your look is always crisp and fresh.

  • PACK ENOUGH UNDERGARMENTS-

enough said. One time a friend didn’t bring enough and it was a horror story…

  • DRY SHAMPOO-

I love you dry shampoo. If your trip is just a weekend journey you can get away with skipping a few shampoo washes by using dry shampoo. I always shower the night before the trip and it lasts me the entire weekend I am gone. Be sure to bring body wash to wash the rest of your body though.

  • KEEP HAIR/MAKE UP TO A SMALL AMOUNT-

You’re on vacation you should be focused on the memory and not all of your makeup. I love makeup don’t get me wrong, but the less you pack the less you have to worry about and the more time you’ll have to explore.

    • BRING A LARGE TOTE-

This will help with your packing. I always bring a large purse to carry my phone charger, smaller purse, an extra pair of sandals (just in case) and whatever I might not be able to fit inside my carry on.

  • MIX & MATCH-

The more flexible you are with your outfit choices the less you will have to fit inside the carry-on. ALSO, the less laundry you have to do when you return home. Try bringing pieces you can mix and match with during the trip. This trick is guaranteed to save you a lot of room.

Wishing you safe travels!
      With love, M
